Event Description

Learn to Create an Assessment that Connects Participation in Co-curricular Experiences with the Development of Key Employment Skills

As key stakeholders in higher education debate upon ways to reduce cost while improving student learning, co-curricular education and its contribution and value addition to student learning is often overlooked. In this session, expert speaker Dr. Adam Peck will discuss how to create an assessment to see the connection between participation in co-curricular experiences and the development of skills that employers value most, as well as explain how to measure this correlation between co-curricular activities and employment skills.

Adam will use data generated by a national benchmarking study led by him, and will draw upon examples from a recently published joint report by the National Association for Campus Activities and National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (Leaders in Collegiate Recreation), which was edited by him, to teach participants how to generate and package data so that key stakeholders can see the value of experiences outside of the classroom.

This session will provide you with the information to realize the importance of co-curricular activities in student learning and development of skills that employers value and look for in job seekers.
