Employer Obligations and Best Practices for Preventing LGBT Discrimination and Harassment

This session by expert speaker Kristin L. Oliveira will educate human resource professionals, senior levels of management, and attorneys new to the practice of employment law, about the emerging trends and legal developments regarding employee rights for those employees who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning. This session will involve a legal update regarding employee rights under discrimination and harassment laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the import of recent court decisions.

Kristin will provide tips on how you may draft your employee handbooks and employee policies to comply with the laws that are sensitive to the LGBT population. In addition, she will offer a checklist outlining the best practices to conduct workplace investigations involving claims of workplace discrimination and harassment.
