Event Description

VAWA Compliance: Eligibility, Confidentiality, Emergency Transfer Plan, and More

In view of HUD’s release of Notice H 2017-05 on June 30, 2017, there have been clarifications, additional samples of forms and clearer procedures regarding the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Reauthorization Act of 2013. It is necessary to understand what VAWA and the HUD notice stand for, which will enable you to understand and implement the required actions that must be taken in order to be in compliance with these additional steps that are needed.

Join this session with expert speaker Debbie Hixon to gain a better understanding on everything related to VAWA. This session will help you prepare yourself according to the latest update issued by HUD, and you will find it easier to comply with additional samples of forms and clearer procedures. This session will help you learn how to write an emergency transfer plan, if and how you would decide to use waiting list preferences. You will learn how to determine eligibility for protections to victims, understand who is ineligible for protections, and when and if there should be a request for third-party documentation. You will also learn how long the manager would wait to receive said documentation, and how fair housing and nondiscrimination is involved. Debbie will discuss Notice H 2017-05, and HUD forms 5380, 5381, 5382 and 5383.
