Event Description

How Student Veterans Can Help You Boost Diversity on Your Campus

In the current environment campuses must display diversity, and many look outside the US to fulfill that directive. However, the risk is the cost associated with this approach, as institutions have no means of ensuring that once the international student is on campus, they feel welcome enough to succeed and stay for the entire four years. Engaging international students, and making them feel welcome is essential for their success on your campus.

What campus administrators don’t realize is that the student veteran can be the welcoming force the international student needs to succeed. Student veterans come from a more diverse group than the campus itself, and have international experiences and leadership training. There are over 2.5 million veterans in the US since 9-11, and with nearly half of them having still not used their GI Bill benefits, they can not only benefit your campus with guaranteed scholarship money, but also the surrounding community, since each student veteran is provided a monthly stipend while they attend your campus.

Join this live webinar by expert speaker Dr. John Schupp to gain more insight on student veterans and how they can make a positive difference to your campus. You will get information based on real numbers from each state and region of the country, about the many service-members returning, and the projected diversity of these service-members. You will be able to determine which countries these service-members have been stationed in, how they were trained to understand the culture and social norms of these countries to make a positive difference, as well as how to resolve conflicts between the US and these countries, and between citizens of the country themselves.
